Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment, facility machinery, vehicles, and material-handling equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify root causes, and complete repairs to minimize downtime.
• Maintain and repair industrial equipment including fabrication machinery, sewing machines, thermalforming equipment, packaging systems, and gas ovens.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair company trucks and forklifts as needed.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized repairs.
• Source, order, and track replacement parts and maintenance supplies.
• Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and manuals.
• Communicate maintenance status and priorities to production teams and leadership.
• Support safe equipment operation by addressing hazards promptly.
• Maintain organized maintenance records of work performed.
• Travel between three locations as needed.

Maintenance Technician

Location: South Bend

Hours: Mon - Fri 6am - 2pm

Compensation: $34.00 an hour (possibly more for the right person) + bonuses + benefits + paid time off!

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined Maintenance Technician to support equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across three locations. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, completing repairs, and ensuring equipment remains safe and operational. Responsibilities also include maintaining company trucks and coordinating with outside service providers when specialized repairs are needed.

The ideal candidate is a resourceful problem-solver who can read equipment schematics and technical manuals, work collaboratively with production employees and leadership, and prioritize maintenance needs across multiple facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment, facility machinery, vehicles, and material-handling equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify root causes, and complete necessary repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
• Maintain and repair a variety of industrial equipment, including fabrication machinery, sewing machines, thermalforming equipment, packaging systems, and gas ovens.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair company trucks and forklifts as needed.
• Coordinate with outside vendors and service providers for repairs requiring specialized expertise or equipment.
• Identify, source, and order replacement parts, supplies, and maintenance materials.
• Read and interpret equipment schematics, technical drawings, and operating and maintenance manuals.
• Communicate effectively with production floor employees and leadership regarding equipment issues, maintenance schedules, and repair priorities.
• Support safe equipment operation by identifying potential hazards and addressing maintenance concerns promptly.
• Maintain organized maintenance records and document completed work, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities.
• Travel between three company locations as needed to support maintenance and repair requirements.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to document maintenance activities and order parts.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills when working with employees, vendors, and leadership.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and respond to equipment issues across multiple locations.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel between company facilities.

• TRUMPF industrial machinery

• Packaging and banding machines
• Gas-fired ovens
• Company trucks
• Forklifts and other material-handling equipment

Experience with all listed equipment is not required. Candidates with a strong mechanical background and the ability to learn new equipment are encouraged to apply.
