Job summary

Kennametal Inc. in Bedford, PA seeks an experienced Maintenance Technician for the 3rd shift (11:00 pm – 7:00 am) to perform predictive and preventive maintenance, reducing downtime and costs.

You will work on mechanical, electrical and electronic systems, with opportunities to guide junior teammates and improve equipment reliability. Qualifications include 5–10 years in CNC maintenance, knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, and familiarity with SAP-PM and Step 7.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years' experience preferred as CNC Maintenance Technician.
• Knowledge of plumbing, pipefitting, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, seals and electric motors and controls.
• Preferred knowledge SAP-PM and Step 7.
• Knowledge and ability of rigging equipment and components.

Responsibilities

• Has full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures through training and experience.
• Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience.
• Guides and supports junior team members; may assist in their orientation and training.
• Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems.
• Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability and yield.
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems; prepares technical reports.
• Prepare for new/relocated equipment installations including sizing, wiring, piping, ventilation.
• Receive, rig, unload, transport, install, assemble, and fine tune new/relocated equipment.
• Interface with outside contractors, OEMs, and tech groups for installations and repairs.
• Safely handle hazardous materials and wastes.
• Interface with in-plant CMMS to show status of work and time spent on job.

Purpose Of The Position

Perform predictive/preventive maintenance analysis to anticipate and circumvent equipment failures, enhancing uptime and reducing costs

Knowledge And Experience

• High School diploma or GED;
• Preferred Bachelor's degree with focus in Electrical or Controls Engineering;
• 5-10yrs years' experience preferred as CNC Maintenance Technician;
• Knowledge of plumbing, pipefitting, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, seals and electric motors and controls;
• Preferred knowledge SAP-PM and Step 7;
• Knowledge and ability of rigging equipment and components.

• Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience;
• Typically has specialized external certification;

• Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical);
• Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield;
• Performs equipment failure analyses (including preventive and unscheduled maintenance);
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems;
• Prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures;
• Prepare for new/relocated equipment installations by sizing, wiring, piping, ventilation, etc. according to incoming equipment requirements;
• Receive, rig, unload, transport, install, assemble, troubleshoot, and fine tune new/relocated equipment;
• Troubleshoot and perform necessary repairs on existing equipment;
• Assist engineers in identifying worn or damaged parts that may be needed to complete the repair;
• Interface with and assist outside contractors, OEM's and Technology Process Support groups, in all attempts to install new and repair or upgrade existing processes;
• Safely handle hazardous materials and hazardous wastes;
• Interface with in-plant Computerized Machine Maintenance System to show status of work and time spent on job.
