Job summary

nVent is seeking a Maintenance Technician for an overnight Sunday–Thursday shift (10pm-6:30am) in Centralia, IL. You will install, inspect, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment while contributing to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

The role reports to the Operations Supervisor and offers a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems, reading blueprints, using meters and measuring

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 3 years of maintenance experience.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Computer skills including data entry and retrieval (Microsoft Outlook).
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to operate digital or analog volt/amp/ohm meter.
  • Use of measuring tools (Dial indicators, Micrometer, and Caliber).
  • Trade school certificate in maintenance or machine repair preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely install, inspect, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing equipment.
  • Plan and perform a sequence of work to move, install, repair, and maintain equipment.
  • Diagnose troubles, disassemble, replace or repair parts, reassemble and test.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on facility and production equipment.
  • Report faulty equipment and unusual conditions to supervisor.
  • Observe prescribed safety rules and maintain a neat work area.
  • Operate machine tools and perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Maintenance Technicians use knowledge, skills, and effort to safely install, inspect, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment. This position is for overnight shift (10pm-6:30am), Sunday – Thursday, with occasional change in hours for project work or overtime requests. This individual is a member of the Maintenance team and reports to the Operations Supervisor. This individual will also support nVent goals in any way that management requests with a positive attitude.

What You Will Experience In This Position
  • Complete all assigned tasks in a safe, professional, and timely manner.
  • Improve skills and increase knowledge relating to the job.
  • General ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing equipment.
  • Plan and perform a sequence of work to move, install, repair, and maintain a wide variety of production and building equipment.
  • Diagnose trouble, determine extent of repair necessary, disassemble, replace or repair parts or construct new parts, reassemble, test and adjust.
  • Perform all machine and bench operations required to construct replacement parts or to recondition worn or defective parts.
  • Perform welding operations such as repairing or making up guards, stands, or bins.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on facility and production equipment.
  • Report faulty equipment, defective material and unusual conditions to supervisor.
  • Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Accurate setup and careful operation of machine tools to prevent damage or loss.
  • Work regular schedule and overtime when requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or advised, which may require more than the normal shift hours or work week to meet company needs.
You Have
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have at least 3 years of maintenance experience.

Pay Transparency

nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.

Compensation Range

$17.20 - $31.90 Per Hour

Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
