Job summary

Haleon seeks a Machine Maintenance Mechanic to perform routine inspections, repairs and maintenance on production equipment, motors and valves. You will diagnose issues, document repairs and collaborate with production and engineering teams to keep downtime to a minimum.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, proficiency in electrical and mechanical systems, and the ability to work 12-hour shifts with every other weekend, at our New York site.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in electrical and mechanical systems and able to read engineering drawings.
  • Able to work 12-hour shifts and every other weekend.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects and working outdoors or in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety protocols and comply with FDA, OSHA and NY regulations.
  • Inspect and maintain manufacturing equipment and machinery on site.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot promptly.
  • Assist in diagnosing machine electronic controls, sensors and drives.
  • Document repairs and maintenance activities with accurate records.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering to improve processes and equipment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime.

Machine Maintenance Mechanic

The Machine Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for routine inspections, repairs and maintenance on mechanical equipment, including electric motors, pumps, production machines, pneumatic valves, electric valves and associated piping. Responding to trouble calls during daily routine operations.

Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions or abnormalities by observing mechanical equipment while in operation, fault finding using HMI, original equipment manufacturer manuals and engineering documents. Collaborate with production and engineering team to improve processes and enhance equipment functionality. Able to communicate equipment status updates to teammates, supervisors and work centers outside of the engineering department. Ability to research parts required using OEM manuals, blueprints or engineering documents. Document repair and maintenance activities and keep accurate records using computer maintenance management systems and/or paper records. Repairing and/or replacing defective parts and components. Equipment teardown, replacement of worn parts or overhauls when required. The ability to perform a breakdown analysis to investigate equipment failures and determine potential improvements to reduce downtime.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with local standard operating procedures, FDA regulations, OSHA regulations and New York State regulations
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and machinery used on site
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues and ensure prompt resolution.
  • Assist in the diagnosis of machine electronic controls, sensors, servers and drives
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Document repair and maintenance activities and keep accurate records
  • Participate in initiatives and programs to identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the site to include safety, downtime reduction or cast savings
  • Collaborate with production and engineering team to improve processes and enhance equipment functionality
Basic Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Proficient in electrical and mechanical systems, understanding engineering drawings, and troubleshooting mechanical issues effectively
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts and every other weekend
  • Ability to carry out tasks that might require climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects, working outdoors, working at height or working in confined spaces
