Job summary

The Visual Pak Companies in Waukegan, IL is seeking a Machine Maintenance Manager to lead preventative maintenance and continuous improvement efforts. You will manage a team of frontline Maintenance Mechanics and Technicians to ensure equipment reliability and production demand satisfaction.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will drive cost efficiency, safety, and change leadership while coordinating with engineering on capital projects and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; preferably in engineering, business, operations management, or similar field.
• Certifications in Continuous Improvement preferred.
• Certifications in Lean or Six Sigma preferred.
• 5+ years of production operations maintenance experience in a liquids manufacturing or contract packaging environment required.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience necessary.
• Able to influence people capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communication for front-line hourly personnel.
• Strong skills in project management.
• Ability to lead a team-based approach to decision-making.
• Effective mentoring, facilitation, presentation, and team-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Establishes or updates Preventative Maintenance Process and Procedures.
• Ensures equipment reliability to maximize production line productivity.
• Implements process enhancements to improve package and product changeover efficiency.
• Utilizes visual factory concepts to maximize asset utilization and plant performance.
• Provides needed personnel oversight so as to develop maintenance technician capability.
• Tracks standard manufacturing and warehouse metrics and prioritizes plant maintenance opportunities.
• Deploys strategies in reliability fundamentals that develop technician competencies.
• Develops a team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals.
• Delivers effective change leadership while driving business changes and minimizing people impact.
• Minor capital project management (partnered with Engineering).
• Communicates and collaborates cross-functionally to assist the team to solve operational issues.
• Administers policies and procedures.
• Prioritizes work requests for the team.
