The AMT Audio team is seeking a highly motivated research and development machine learning engineer to develop models for speech and audio applications.

The Audio and Media Technologies (AMT) team is central to Apple’s innovative products, including Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS. Our Core Audio team provides the foundational audio technology for features like Siri, phone calls, FaceTime, media capture, playback, and APIs for third-party developers. We are looking for dedicated engineers passionate about building audio software products for millions of users and enhancing overall user experience. Responsibilities
  1. Develop machine learning model architectures for audio-related problems such as sound event detection, scene classification, and context understanding.
  2. Train, fine-tune, and compress models for deployment in production environments.
  3. Contribute to workflow improvements by building pipelines, creating datasets, and designing evaluation frameworks.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop features and ship products.
  5. Create intellectual property through patents and publications.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of machine learning architecture design and training/testing methodologies.
  • Experience building machine learning pipelines.
  • Excellent software architecture and programming skills in Python, C, C++.
  • Knowledge of audio technologies.
  • MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, with industry and research experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven experience in machine learning development, especially in audio and speech applications.
  • Experience optimizing and compressing models for resource-constrained platforms.
  • Familiarity with multimodal large language models (LLMs).
  • Demonstrated innovation through patents and publications.
  • Fundamentals of audio and speech signal processing.
Pay & Benefits

Apple offers a total compensation package including a base salary, discretionary bonuses, stock programs, and comprehensive benefits such as medical and dental coverage, retirement plans, educational reimbursement, and discounts. The salary range for this role is $143,100 to $264,200, depending on skills and experience. Learn more about Apple Benefits.
