Job summary

J&T in Laurel, MD seeks a Software Engineer at Level 2/3 to develop compliance analytics and data processing systems in an R&D environment.

You will design automated tools, implement ML algorithms, and build data-driven solutions using Python, Java, Scala, and related tech, with TS/SCI clearance.

The role requires strong hands-on experience and collaboration with cross-functional teams using Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and Bitbucket.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 14 years of software engineering experience on similar programs, or 18 years of experience without a degree.
• Advanced development experience in Python, Java, and/or Scala on Linux.
• Hands-on ML and data processing with Scikit-learn, Spark, Jupyter Notebooks, SQL and JSON.
• Experience with MapReduce, Lucene, JEXL, and distributed data processing.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and maintain compliance automation tools and business processing analytics.
• Implement, test, and validate machine learning and AI algorithms (e.g., Random Forest, GMLearn) within an R&D test environment.
• Conduct Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) and execute advanced feature engineering on complex datasets.
• Build, deploy, and monitor machine learning models, data flows, and performance telemetry.
• Integrate distributed MapReduce processing workflows (Ghostmachine) with backend data pipelines.
• Develop full-stack and analytical software using Python, Java, Scala, Lucene, JEXL, SQL, and JSON within a Linux environment.
• Collaborate using Jira, Confluence, Git/GitLab, and Bitbucket, maintaining comprehensive technical documentation and participating in peer reviews.
