Job summary

Elder Research Inc., a major contractor in the Washington, D.C. area, seeks a machine learning engineer to join our Chantilly team.

The role focuses on building and deploying AI agents to automate workflows and empower human operators with advanced NLP and AI capabilities. Candidates should have a TS/SCI clearance with CI poly, 3+ years of experience alongside a Bachelor's degree, and strong skills in Python, SQL, and API development (REST/FastAPI).

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI + CI polygraph required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Familiarity with developing & managing API endpoints (REST and FastAPI).
• Familiarity with developing agenticAI workflows/systems.
• Langchain, LangGraph, OpenAI Agents, Pydontic.
• UVicorn (webserver).
• Experience with multi-agent orchestration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy AI agents to automate and optimize workflows.
• Support program with R&D and customer-facing goals to accelerate transition of research into impact.
• Create software to support AI agent communication and API integrations.
• Test, debug, and deploy agents into target environments with monitoring.
• Utilize open-source models and proprietary models for agentic AI tasks.
• Develop approaches to secure and evaluate agentic workflows for accuracy and impact.
• Ensure AI systems adhere to ethical guidelines, transparency, and fairness.
