Job Title(s): AI Engineer / Applied Scientist

Location: Fully Remote (U.S.-based candidates only)

Compensation: $120K – $200K base

Equity: Generous, with standard 1-year cliff and 4-year vesting

About the Role

Our client is building next-generation conversational AI systems — the kind that don’t just answer questions but deeply understand and interact with the world. They are looking to hire exceptional engineers and scientists who are excited to work in a fast-paced, product-driven environment where you'll build intelligent agents that can reason, follow instructions, and interact naturally with users.

Our client is hiring two AI Engineers, each with a slightly different focus:

a. Software Engineering-Focused AI Engineer

You're an experienced backend or systems engineer who can build reliable, production-grade AI services. You’ll own infrastructure and cloud systems, and work closely with ML researchers to make their ideas production-ready.

You might be a fit if you:

• Have 2+ years experience in software or AI engineering (internships count)
• Have strong coding skills (Python preferred) and experience with cloud systems (AWS a plus)
• Enjoy building robust, scalable systems from scratch

This role is more applied and exploratory. You’ll work on evaluation frameworks, experiment with model behaviors (e.g., how agents handle voice inputs or address parsing), and help shape the intelligence and UX of our AI systems.

• Are excited by empirical testing, behavior evaluation, and prototyping new AI features
• Think scientifically — you’re comfortable designing experiments, analyzing outcomes, and iterating quickly
• Enjoy building metrics, evaluation tools, or working closely with product and design

2. Applied Scientist (ML / Deep Learning Focus)

This role is ideal for someone who wants to train and tune models in a product environment — especially someone with experience in deep learning or audio modeling. Our client is building systems that process real-world conversations, and there’s lots of work around speech understanding, model evaluation, and deployment.

You might be a fit if you:

• Have 2–4 years of experience in machine learning research or applied AI
• Have experience training deep learning models (especially with audio data or LLMs)
• Prefer building and improving models over writing papers
• Enjoy being close to the product and customers — not in a research silo
• Background in CS, ML, or related fields; degrees from top programs (Top 50 U.S. schools, Georgia Tech, etc.) are appreciated but not required
• You are a strong generalist with curiosity, initiative, and great problem-solving skills
• You thrive in a startup-like environment where priorities can shift quickly
• You’re willing to wear many hats and help the team wherever needed
• You’re pragmatic, product-minded, and excited about shipping things that actually work
