Qualifikationen

• 5+ years of ML and/or CV with ownership from prototype to production.
• Degree in CS/EE/Mech or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience building LLM/VLM-based agents with tool use and structured outputs.
• Experience designing evaluations for non-deterministic systems to inform shipping decisions.

Hadrian Automation is building advanced systems that automate technical data understanding and support faster precision manufacturing planning and execution. As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will design, build, and scale agentic and document understanding systems that convert engineering drawings and CAD models into structured data used to generate processes and plan factories.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy agentic systems that read multi-page engineering drawing sets, including page classification and extraction of parts lists, notes, tables, dimensions, GD&T, and weld symbols.
• Build the tools agents rely on, including image processing, geometry, and CAD registration; determine which parts of a problem belong in code versus in the model.
• Own evaluation across the system using gold datasets, accuracy metrics, LLM-as-judge rubrics, and online checks that flag failures on documents without ground truth.
• Contribute to the full agent lifecycle, including prompt and exemplar design, orchestration, tracing, cost and latency, and production pipelines that move results into the database and applications.
• Combine frontier models, open-source tools, and classical computer vision to build document understanding systems for manufacturing applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline), or an equivalent amount of industry experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Machine Learning and/or Computer Vision, with ownership of projects from prototype through production.
• AI-native builder with strong business and product sense.
• Hands-on experience building LLM or VLM-based agents, including tool use, structured outputs, and graph orchestration.
• Experience designing evaluations for non-deterministic systems and using them to determine what ships.

What Sets You Apart

• Experience with classical computer vision (OpenCV, scikit-image, etc.) and with training or fine-tuning detection, segmentation, or OCR models.
• Prior experience with visual document understanding and layout analysis, particularly on technical data or other dense, high-variance documents.
• Previous work in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing, including experience with 3D/CAD/CAM data for manufacturing applications.
• Prior experience running models on AWS, including Bedrock or GovCloud environments.
• Prior experience with tracing and observability for LLM applications using OpenTelemetry, MLflow, Langfuse, or similar tools.
• Strong software engineering skills, including prior web development experience.
• Passion for manufacturing and a belief that the industry needs better software.

Compensation and Location

• Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CA (onsite)
• Salary: USD 215,000 - 359,000 per year
