Job summary

Warren CAT is seeking a Machine Field Technician III (Rotational) to perform high-quality repair service on heavy equipment. The role operates on a designated rotating schedule (e.g., 14 days on, 7 days off) with travel and lodging at the assigned site for the 14-day period.

You will complete jobs within flat-rate times, manage paperwork, and use diagnostics, cranes, and rigging equipment. You’ll also mentor team members and provide accurate quotes while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 5–8 years related experience.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and manuals.
• Knowledge of database software, internet software and order processing systems.
• Clean driving record and ability to obtain CDL within 90 days; must be 21+.
• May be required to complete a DOT physical.
• Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work, overtime and on-call.
• Certified in air-conditioning.
• Successfully complete Work Steps assessment.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat rate times.
• Document work orders, parts orders and related paperwork accurately.
• Remove/install parts, disassemble/assemble components and test assemblies.
• Demonstrate mastery of basic hand tools, air tools, measuring tools and diagnostic software.
• Provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to customers.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair equipment; recommend repairs.
• Apply failure analysis procedures to diagnose issues.
• Test and verify correct operation after repairs.
• Mentor team members on the shop floor.

The Machine Field Technician III (R) is designated as a \"Rotational\" position that usually works a designated rotating schedule, usually in patterns such as 14 days \"on,\" and 7 days \"off\" work. The person must travel to and lodge at the assigned work location for the duration of the 14-day work assignment. This position is responsible for providing high quality repair service on equipment, in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Complete assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and re-do metric.
• Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with ability to self-monitor work quality.
• Mastery level knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software and cranes and rigging equipment.
• This position requires the ability to provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to the customer.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical machine and engine repairs and adjustments.
• Apply specific failure analysis and procedures in determining proper diagnosis.
• Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
• Mentor Machine team members.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to obtain or currently possess adequate tooling to perform duties.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and write routine reports and correspondence.
• Knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Manufacturing software and Order processing systems.
• Clean driving record and ability to obtain CDL within 90 days of hire for field assignment, must be at least 21 years old to be assigned and operate field vehicle.
• May be required to complete a DOT physical.
• Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work, required overtime and on call.
• Must be certified in air-conditioning.
• Successfully complete Work Steps assessment.
