Job summary

Surface Combustion, Inc. is seeking capable candidates in Waterville, Ohio for field-oriented maintenance and custom machine assembly roles. Workers will hand-assemble equipment per customer specs, read complex drawings, and operate various tools.

No assembly line or robotics is used; team leadership may be involved on job sites. The role emphasizes hands-on fabrication, lifting, welding, and basic electrical work, with opportunities to train and advance.

Qualifications

Ability to read a tape measure
Ability to read drawings, blueprints and layouts
Welding and basic electrical skills
Experience with hydraulic/pneumatic systems a plus
Experience with field installations a plus

Responsibilities

Master the use of hand and power tools
Fabricate and assemble products using drawings and verbal direction
Read electrical, piping, and mechanical prints and layouts
Set up and align motors, pumps, and drive systems
Use overhead cranes and forklifts to move equipment
Perform jobsite installations as part of a field team
Train less experienced mechanics as directed by management
Other duties as required

Job description:

Surface Combustion is a world leader in designing, manufacturing, and marketing of rugged and reliable thermal processing systems. These are custom systems, assembled by hand in Waterville, Ohio. Although the position is not typical maintenance position, those working in the maintenance or custom machine assembly fields are encouraged to apply. Our equipment is assembled by hand based on the specific needs of the customer. There are no assembly lines or robotics in this process.

Responsibilities and Duties

Master the use of hand and power tools
Work may require extensive periods of standing, bending, stretching, lifting, and reaching.
Be proficient in wielding processes; read electrical prints & layouts, read piping prints (two-lined & isometric); read mechanical prints; read and understand suppliers' instructions
Employees uses initiative in conducting recurring assignments to fabricate and assemble products by using drawings, sketches, and verbal direction
Must be proficient in some forms of process and tack wielding; basic electrical skills including lay out and mount conduit and pull & terminate wire; lay out, cut &thread, and mount piping systems; set and align motors, pumps, other mechanical components etc.; lay out, set, level & align furnace drive systems.
Employees will be required to use overhead cranes and fork trucks to set up and/or move equipment. Will assist in loading and unloading equipment
Perform jobsite installations as part of a field team and as a team leader
Assist in the training of less skilled or less experienced mechanics as directed by plant management
Perform other duties and functions as required.
