Surface Combustion is seeking a dynamic Welder/Fabricator Lead to oversee daily fabrication activities and lead a skilled team of welders and fabricators. You will ensure safety standards and quality specifications are met while meeting project deadlines and client expectations.

The role offers leadership opportunities on diverse construction and fabrication projects, with hands-on duties including reading prints and operating fabrication equipment.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Some continuing education related to fabrication is recommended.
• Strong mechanical ability is essential.
• Candidate must plan and execute tasks and resolve issues independently.
• May direct work of others to fabricate and assemble products.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily fabrication activities and lead a team of welders and fabricators.
• Ensure all work adheres to safety standards and quality specifications.
• Read electrical, piping, and mechanical prints and work from drawings.
• Lead field team for jobsite installations as required.
• Train less experienced mechanics under plant management.

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Welder/Fabricator Lead to join our team and drive excellence in metal fabrication and welding operations. In this role, you will oversee daily fabrication activities, lead a team of skilled welders and fabricators, and ensure all work adheres to safety standards and quality specifications. Your expertise will help us deliver high-quality metal structures and components that meet project deadlines and client expectations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your leadership skills while working on diverse construction and fabrication projects.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Hand and power tool mastery
• Work may require extensive periods of standing, bending, stretching, lifting, and reaching
• Be proficient in wielding processes necessary for SCI manufacturing; read electrical prints & layouts, read piping prints (two-lined & isometric); read mechanical prints; read and understand suppliers’ instructions
• Employees uses initiative in conducting recurring assignments to fabricate and assemble products by using drawings, sketches, and verbal direction
• Must be proficient in some forms of process and tack wielding; basic electrical skills including lay out and mount conduit and pull & terminate wire; lay out, cut & thread, and mount piping systems; set and align motors, pumps, other mechanical components etc.; lay out, set, level & align furnace drive systems.
• Employees will be required to use overhead cranes and fork trucks to set up and/or move equipment. Will assist in loading and unloading equipment
• Perform jobsite installations as part of a field team and as a team leader
• Assist in the training of less skilled or less experienced mechanics as directed by plant management
• Perform other duties and functions as required.

Qualifications

• Some level of continuing education that is related to is recommended
• Strong mechanical ability
• Employee is responsible for planning and carrying out tasks or work on projects independently up to final review and decisions.
• May direct the work of other others to fabricate and assemble products by using drawings, sketches, and verbal direction
