Job summary

General Kinematics is the premier manufacturer of vibrating equipment for bulk materials. We are seeking a qualified Machine Builder / Assembler to join our team in Crystal Lake, IL.

This role covers assembly and startup of equipment, with emphasis on accurate interpretation of blueprints and procedures. The position requires strong mechanical skills, tool proficiency, and the ability to work with potentially hazardous equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of three years of related experience is preferred.
• Must have a basic set of mechanic tools.
• Strong mechanical ability and blueprint reading with evidence of related experience is required.
• Prior welding, hydraulic, and electrical experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. continuously, climb, crouch, and crawl above and below equipment.
• Able to speak, read and write the English language.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail is a must.
• Good work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Fits and assembles machinery components according to assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering memos, sketches, and knowledge of machine construction to construct, rebuild, and repair machines and equipment.
• Operate jib, overhead crane, air/hand-powered tools, and forklift.
• Ability to problem solve new assembly problems as they arise and help to determine workable solutions.
• Adapt, perform, and communicate in a fast-paced, high mix/low volume fabrication shop environment.
• Ability to measure with, read, and comprehend measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, radius gages, go/no-go gages.
• Ability to measure in feet and inches to 1/31” with a standard tape measure is a must.
• Record production and inspection activities in computer-based business systems/programs.
• Be aware of the importance of using correct lifting techniques.
• Conduct test runs with completed tools to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary.
• Understand and follow procedures that comply with Company policies.

We are currently looking for a qualified Machine Builder / Assembler to join our team. This position will be responsible for the assembly and startup of all equipment. Communication with customers and functional organizations within the company is an important part of this position.

Pay: $23.00 to $28.00 hourly. The range provided is a guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Other factors that are involved in offer decisions include, and are not limited to a candidate’s experience, qualifications, geography, and internal equity.
