Job summary

Torrey Holistics seeks a seasoned Machine Builder to assemble custom automation equipment on site in Michigan. You will read blueprints, align mechanical components, install pneumatic and basic electrical parts, and ensure precision and reliability.

You will troubleshoot issues, contribute to a safe, organized workspace, and may travel domestically/internationally up to 20% to support installations and commissioning at customer sites.

Qualifications

  • Read blueprints and technical drawings with accuracy.
  • Hands-on mechanical assembly of automation equipment.
  • Experience with pneumatic and basic electrical components.
  • Proficient with standard hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble custom automation equipment per drawings and specs.
  • Integrate mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components.
  • Install, align, and fit machine parts for proper operation.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and debug during assembly and startup.
  • Travel up to 20% domestically/internationally for installations.

Job description

Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Assembly & IntegrationAssemble custom automation equipment, including assembly lines and test systems, based on engineering drawings and specificationsIntegrate mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components into complete machine systemsInstall, align, and fit machine components to ensure proper operation, precision, and reliabilityUtilize hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments during assemblyBlueprint & Technical InterpretationRead and interpret blueprints, schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentationFollow build instructions while ensuring compliance with engineering and quality standardsIdentify and escalate discrepancies in drawings or components to Engineering teamsTesting, Debugging & CommissioningPerform functional testing of components, subassemblies, and completed machinesTroubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues during assembly and system startupDiagnose root causes of system malfunctions and implement corrective actionsSupport machine debug, run-off, and commissioning activities in-house and at customer sitesCollaboration & CommunicationWork closely with Engineers, Electricians, and other team members to resolve technical challengesCommunicate build progress, issues, and improvement opportunities to supervisors and project teamsInterface with customers and vendors as needed during system reviews, builds, and installationsContinuous Improvement & QualityEnsure all work meets company quality standards and customer requirementsContribute to process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce reworkMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company and OSHA standardsQualificationsExperience & Education5+**years of experience**as a Machine Builder, Automation Assembler, or similar role in a manufacturing or automation environmentExperience buildingcustom machinery, assembly systems, or test equipmentstrongly preferredTechnical training, apprenticeship, or trade certification is a plusTechnical SkillsStrong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accuratelySolid mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in:- Mechanical assembly and alignmentPneumatic systems (cylinders, valves, tubing)Basic electrical components (sensors, actuators, wiring awareness)Proficiency with standard hand tools, power tools, and measurement equipmentExperience troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment issuesSKILLS & EXPERIENCEProven experience (minimum of 5 years) as a Machine Builder, Machine Assembler, or similar role in manufacturing equipmentMust be able to accurately read and interpret blue printsStrong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques and toolsStrong problem solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve technical issues effectivelyAbility to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment with effective communication skillsExcellent problem solving and communication skillsMust posses own hand toolsMust have valid driver’s license and must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally at 20% or less per calendar yearFrequently moves, lifts, transports, positions, and installs equipment and material greater than 20lbs
