Job summary

Torrey Holistics is seeking an experienced Machine Builder for our Auburn Hills, MI project. You will assemble industrial equipment to precise specifications, read mechanical and assembly drawings, and document issues to support safe, on-time delivery.

You will operate a variety of machine shop equipment, collaborate with the Machine Build Lead, and ensure compliance with safety and ISO quality standards while traveling as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical and assembly drawings.
  • Experience assembling industrial machinery and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble industrial equipment according to drawings, specs and procedures.
  • Read and interpret part and assembly drawings with intermediate proficiency.
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision while maintaining safety, quality and productivity.
  • Document design changes, build issues and problems encountered during assembly.
  • Communicate project status and issues with the Machine Build Lead; travel as required.
  • Maintain clean, organized and safe work area throughout build process.
  • Assist with materials prep for secondary processes and operate shop equipment.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as project needs (≈20%).

Machine Builder – Auburn Hills, MIPay: $28–$30/hourJob Type: Long-Term ContractLocation: Auburn Hills, MIPosition SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Machine Builder to join our team in Auburn Hills, MI. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read and interpret mechanical and assembly drawings, and hands-on experience assembling industrial machinery and equipment.This role is responsible for building equipment to specification, supporting quality and production requirements, documenting issues and changes, and working closely with the Machine Build Lead to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to customer expectations. The position may require 20% or more travel, including domestic and international travel depending on project requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesAssemble industrial equipment and machinery according to mechanical and assembly drawings, specifications, and established procedures.Read and interpret part drawings, assembly drawings, and related documentation with intermediate proficiency.Perform assigned machine-building tasks with minimal direct supervision while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.Identify, document, and communicate design changes, build issues, and problems encountered during assembly.Communicate regularly with the Machine Build Lead regarding project status, open issues, changes, and progress.Execute projects in accordance with ISO and company quality standards.Support successful execution of assigned programs with a focus on cost, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the build process.Assist with preparing materials and components for secondary processes, including material finishing, heat treating, and deburring.Safely and effectively operate a variety of machine shop equipment, including:- MillsLathesDrill pressesSurface grindersGrindersSawsShearsPressesWork collaboratively with other Machine Builders, Leads, Engineers, and Project personnel to resolve build issues and meet project milestones.Follow all required safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout and applicable machine safety requirements.Participate in customer-site installations, service activities, or project support as required.Travel domestically and internationally, approximately 20% or more, based on project needs.Qualifications & RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Related vocational or technical education preferred.Previous machine building, equipment assembly, mechanical assembly, or industrial manufacturing experience preferred.Strong mechanical aptitude with a demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.Intermediate ability to read and interpret mechanical part and assembly drawings.Basic computer skills.Ability to follow instructions, accept direction, and complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Ability to maintain a steady work pace in a physically demanding manufacturing environment.Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and climb onto, beneath, and around machinery.Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs. as required.Ability to obtain and maintain required Hi-Lo/Forklift, Aerial Platform, and Overhead Crane certifications.Ability to complete required Lockout/Tagout training.Ability to provide personal hand tools and a suitable toolbox for the position. A recommended tool list will be provided.Demonstrated proficiency with the skills and equipment outlined in Module 1.Willingness and ability to travel at least 20% of the time, including potential domestic and international travel.
