Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a skilled Machine Builder to join our team in Gurnee, IL. The role operates on the first shift from 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and is fully onsite.

You will weld, fabricate, and machine parts, building sub-assemblies and constructing or rebuilding machines from blueprints and instructions. Responsibilities include ensuring parts availability, verifying blueprints with engineering, and maintaining equipment.

Qualifications

• Welding and fabrication skills, especially with stainless steel.
• Mechanical assembly and machine building experience.
• Proficient in blueprint reading and using power/hand tools.
• Able to troubleshoot electrical components and work with pneumatics.
• Repair and maintenance abilities.
• English reading/writing fluency and strong communication.
• Must pass a company-administered mechanical test.

Job Title: Machine Builder

We are seeking a skilled Machine Builder to join our team. This position operates on the first shift from 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The role involves significant welding and fabricating, as well as manual machining tasks such as using lathes, mills, and grinders.

Responsibilities

• Build sub-assemblies from piece parts.
• Construct new machines and rebuild existing machines from sub-assemblies using blueprints, verbal, and written instructions.
• Ensure all parts are available for sub-assembly by checking parts in boxes against bills of materials.
• Collaborate with the Engineering Department to verify the accuracy of blueprints or spec sheets.

Essential Skills

• Welding and fabrication skills, particularly with stainless steel.
• Mechanical assembly and machine building experience.
• Proficient in blueprint reading and the use of power and hand tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical components and work with pneumatics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous mechanical experience such as production mechanic, auto mechanic (certification required), or machine shop experience.
• Completion of one blueprint reading class and one shop math class.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools like micrometers and verniers.
• Fluency in reading and writing in English.
• Strong communication skills.
• Must pass a company-administered mechanical test.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
