Job summary

Resource Label Group is seeking a Bindery Support for 1st shift to assist bindery machine operators in setup, maintenance, and operation of cutters, folder-gluers, and folding machines in a printing facility. You will help produce high-quality printed materials per job specs and schedules.

Responsibilities include assisting with machine setup, quality control, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance while following ISO standards and cGMP-like practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 1 year of related experience or training.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating machine bindery equipment in a commercial print or packaging environment.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical maintenance and ability to read rulers, scales.

Responsibilities

  • Follow guidance and direction from bindery machine operators.
  • Assist with setup and operation of MBO folding machines and flatbed cutters; including adjustments for feeder, folding, cutting, and prep for delivery.
  • Support folder configuration setups for special processes and various folding configurations.
  • Perform process-related troubleshooting and escalate complex machine issues as needed.
  • Ensure make-ready times and materials used are minimized through proper planning of work.
  • Maintain product inspection before, during, and after production runs to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Perform routine preventative machine maintenance and document it in the maintenance binder.

Bindery Support - 1st Shift

Hourly / Non-Exempt

Work Days: Monday-Friday (8hr shifts)

Work Hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm

Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Bindery Support to join our team! The Bindery Support assists bindery machine operators in all tasks related to the setup, maintenance, and operation of Cutters, Folder-Gluers, MBO folding machines, and other machine bindery equipment in our printing manufacturing facility to produce high-quality printed and folded materials according to job specifications and production schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Follow guidance and direction from bindery machine operators.
  • Adhere to all relevant ISO standards, company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s).
  • Assist with setup and operation of MBO folding machines and flatbed cutters; including adjustments for feeder, folding, cutting, and prep for delivery.
  • Support folder configuration setups for special processes (e.g., perforating, scoring, slitting/trimming) and for various folding configurations (e.g., parallel, gate, accordion).
  • Perform process-related troubleshooting and correction; escalating complex machine issues as needed.
  • Ensure make-ready times and materials used are minimized through proper planning of work.
  • Perform other bindery operations such as cutting, punching, shrink-wrapping, stitching, padding, and round cornering.
  • Maintain consistent product inspection, before, during, and after production runs to ensure quality, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Perform routine preventative machine maintenance under the direction and supervision of operators and document it in the maintenance binder.
  • Follow daily schedule for workload and communicates problems or concerns, assisting in resolutions in a timely manner.
  • Read and interpret job tickets, layouts, and specifications to ensure finished products adhere to customer specifications.
  • Support verification efforts to ensure accuracy of folds, final sizes, and crossovers on signatures; and no marking.
  • Complete all required documentation and data entry to support accurate machine records and inventory tracking.
  • Load component materials onto machine bindery equipment to prepare for startup.
  • Follow proper safety procedures for operating bindery equipment.
  • Assist with cleanup and maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, and a minimum of one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1 years of experience operating machine bindery equipment in a commercial print or packaging environment.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical maintenance
  • Must be able to read and interpret rulers, scales, and other measurement devices.
