Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Manufacturing Helper for second (3:00pm–11:00pm) shift with potential for third shift. The role is onsite in a non-climate-controlled packaging manufacturing facility in Norcross, GA. You will support machine operators, perform quality checks, and keep areas clean and safe.

Ideal candidates are eager to learn, can read basic English, and can read manuals and tape measurements. Roles involve light to moderate lifting, PPE use, and working in variable temperatures.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and understand basic English.
• Ability to read instruction and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
• Must wear safety PPE as required (glasses, shoes, hearing protection).
• Ability to stand and move continuously with occasional kneeling or bending.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in hot or cold environments.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform a wide range of tasks to support manufacturing areas and production.
• Conduct quality checks and ensure a clean, organized workspace.
• Assist machine operators and setup tooling and jams.
• Support multiple machines and areas as needed.

Primary job duties will include but are not limited to safely performing a wide range of tasks supporting the manufacturing areas, production, conducting quality checks, material setup, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working safely, demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a strong desire to learn manufacturing processes and operating complex machinery, and have a desire to advance within the company.

• The Manufacturing Helper is normally the third team member assigned to a machine in the Production.

• Some of the duties of this position include, but are not limited to ensuring that all tooling for the machine is on hand, assisting the machine operator and assistant operator with setups and jam‑ups, ensuring that the area surrounding the machine is kept clean of debris and spills

What you need to succeed

• Ability to read materials to understand and apply content, such as instruction manuals, procedure manuals or assembly manuals
• Able to read a tape measure and perform basic math
• Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and other safety gear as required (We will provide any necessary PPE.)
• Ability to stand and walk continuously with occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting, bending, climbing, and grasping
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment (hot or cold)
