Job summary

Dev Technology Group seeks a Microsoft 365 / Power Platform Developer to design, build, deploy, and support business applications for federal government clients. You will work with Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse, SharePoint Online, and related Microsoft 365 services in a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, translating business requirements into secure, scalable solutions, collaborating with PMs, tech leads, and analysts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
• 3–5+ years developing business apps, automation, or enterprise tech solutions.
• Hands-on Power Platform development experience.
• Experience building Power Apps Canvas apps and Power Automate workflows.
• Experience with Dataverse, SharePoint Online, and/or Microsoft Lists.
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 services (SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Outlook).
• Ability to design user-friendly, professional interfaces and apply UI/UX fundamentals.

Microsoft 365 / Power Platform Developer

Position Overview

We are seeking aMicrosoft 365 / Power Platform Developer to design, build, deploy, and support business applications and automation solutions for federal government clients.

This role will primarily focus on developing solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Pages, Dataverse, SharePoint Online, and related Microsoft 365 technologies. The developer will work as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team under an M365 Program Manager, Project Manager, or Technical Lead.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who can translate business requirements into secure, maintainable, and user-friendly applications.

Key Responsibilities

Power Platform Development

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain applications using Microsoft Power Platform.
• Build Power Apps Canvas and Model-Driven applications and automated workflows using Power Automate.
• Design and configure data solutions using Dataverse, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Lists, and other approved data sources.
• Integrate Power Platform solutions with Microsoft 365 services and approved external systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, workflow, permissions, integration, and performance issues.
• Develop reusable components, templates, and patterns to improve consistency and delivery efficiency.

M365 Development & UI/UX

• Develop solutions that integrate with SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Outlook, and other Microsoft 365 services.
• Work with technical leads and M365 administrators to ensure solutions align with tenant governance, security, and platform standards.
• Design intuitive, modern, and visually consistent user interfaces for Power Apps and related M365 solutions.
• Apply practical UI/UX principles related to navigation, layout, information hierarchy, forms, validation, responsiveness, and user feedback.
• Create wireframes, mockups, or lightweight prototypes when needed to validate designs with stakeholders before development.
• Incorporate customer and end-user feedback into application design and iterative improvements.
• Balance functional requirements with simplicity and usability to avoid overly complex or difficult-to-maintain solutions.

Requirements, Design & Delivery

• Participate in customer discovery sessions, requirements workshops, design reviews, and technical discussions.
• Translate business processes and requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Develop prototypes and proofs of concept to validate requirements and solution approaches.
• Identify technical dependencies, constraints, risks, and alternatives and communicate them to project leadership.
• Provide development estimates and communicate impacts associated with changing requirements or scope.
• Demonstrate completed functionality to stakeholders and incorporate feedback into subsequent iterations.

Application Lifecycle Management

• Follow established Power Platform Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices.
• Support development, test, acceptance, and production environments and solution deployments.
• Use Power Platform solutions, environment variables, connection references, source control, and deployment pipelines as appropriate.
• Support CI/CD practices for application deployment and configuration management, using tools such as GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, and Power Platform pipelines where applicable.
• Support production deployments, defect resolution, maintenance, and enhancements.
• Maintain technical, configuration, and deployment documentation.

Agile Team Collaboration

• Work as part of an Agile or hybrid delivery team to complete development activities within defined schedules and sprint commitments.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, demonstrations, retrospectives, and other project ceremonies.
• Maintain development tasks, estimates, status, and technical notes in Jira or comparable tools.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, technical leads, business analysts, testers, administrators, and other developers.
• Proactively communicate blockers, risks, dependencies, and potential schedule impacts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• 3–5+ years of professional experience developing business applications, workflow automation, or enterprise technology solutions.
• Hands-on experience developing solutions using Microsoft Power Platform.
• Experience building Power Apps Canvas applications and Power Automate workflows.
• Experience with Dataverse, SharePoint Online, and/or Microsoft Lists.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook.
• Demonstrated ability to design intuitive, professional, and user-friendly application interfaces.
• Working knowledge of UI/UX fundamentals, including layout, navigation, forms, usability, responsiveness, and accessibility.
• Experience translating business requirements into functional technical solutions.
• Understanding of application design, data modeling, permissions, integration, testing, and deployment concepts.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering Microsoft 365 or Power Platform solutions for federal government customers, preferably DHS or another large federal agency.
• Experience developing Model-Driven Power Apps, Power Pages, and Dataverse-based solutions.
• Experience building compelling and user-friendly reports and dashboards using Power BI.
• Experience with Power Platform ALM, CI/CD, managed solutions, environment strategies, and deployment pipelines.
• Experience with REST APIs, custom connectors, Microsoft Graph, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, or other integration technologies.
• Experience modernizing legacy custom business applications.
• Experience with SPFx, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, or related web technologies.
• Familiarity with federal Section 508 accessibility, cybersecurity, records management, privacy, and compliance requirements.
• Microsoft certifications such as PL-400, PL-200, or related Power Platform/M365 certifications.
• Experience working in Agile environments using Jira, Azure DevOps, or comparable tools.

Our estimated salary range for this position is $72,000 - 130,000, this presented salary range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Offered salary is based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements as appropriate to the role. *Salary could fall outside of this range.
