Luna Data Solutions is seeking a Microsoft 365 Infrastructure & Site Reliability Engineer for a 12 month contract in Austin TX.
- Austin area preferred but can live in TX at time of submittal if open to being in Austin day 1 of the project
- This position is a 1-year contract; renewals or options to convert to full time are not yet known
- Hybrid, Austin office 2 days a week
Strong Site Reliability Engineer and M365 Infrastructure Administration experience:
- Will support the reliability, scalability, security, and performance of complex application and infrastructure services across Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows and Linux servers, cloud services, and supporting PowerShell automation platforms.
- Will collaborate with cross-functional IT teams and agency staff to sustain reliable, high-performing systems, support project delivery, strengthen operational practices, and prepare Core Systems technologies for current and emerging AI-enabled services and workloads in a secure and compliant manner.
- Will perform hands‑on engineering and operational support across the Core Systems & Identity environment.
- Role combines enterprise infrastructure administration with site reliability engineering practices, emphasizing automation, monitoring, incident response, configuration consistency, documentation, and continuous improvement.
- Expected to work independently on assigned initiatives while engaging team members, technology owners, security partners, and business stakeholders.
- Will be required to participate in on‑call duty or some scheduled after‑hours work.
Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise infrastructure and application services spanning Microsoft 365, Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID, Windows Server, Linux, Hybrid Exchange and related cloud‑based infrastructure.
- Design and implement automation using PowerShell and infrastructure‑as‑code practices to improve reliability, reduce manual effort, and provide consistent, repeatable operations.
- Analyze and diagnose complex infrastructure problems; participate in incident response, root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive improvement activities.
- Create and maintain technical, operational, process, and project documentation, including support procedures, runbooks, standards, and implementation records.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, maintain, and monitor scalable, reliable, secure, and high‑performing systems.
- Monitor applications and systems for availability, performance, licensing compliance, security posture, and adherence to established operational standards.
- Assess new features, service changes, tools, and emerging technologies; develop recommendations and support controlled implementation where approved.
- Use approved AI capabilities to support research, documentation, automation development, and troubleshooting while following organizational requirements for data protection, accuracy, security, and responsible use.
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and deliver assigned operational work and project activities across competing priorities and deadlines.
Required Experience
- Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in site reliability engineering, enterprise infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or a closely related discipline.
- Administration and support of Microsoft enterprise technologies, including Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, Windows Server, Exchange Online, and PowerShell.
- Enterprise application and infrastructure administration involving Windows and Linux servers, application hosting, patching, monitoring, availability, and performance management.
- PowerShell scripting and automation for operational workflows, administrative tasks, identity lifecycle activities, configuration management, reporting, or infrastructure deployment.
- Troubleshooting complex production issues and participating in incident response, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures.
- Applying security best practices, access controls, change management, and data‑protection requirements within enterprise infrastructure.
- Working with source control and structured software or infrastructure delivery practices.
- Producing clear technical documentation and communicating complex technical concepts to audiences with varying technical backgrounds.
- Planning and coordinating work across multiple deadlines, dependencies, and priorities in a professional team environment.
