Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking an administrative professional to support the M30 Pipe Manuf team. The role involves standard office functions, filing, mail handling, meeting coordination, and referrals, with opportunities to gather and report information for supervisors and to transcribe dictation as needed.

Required is a High School diploma or GED with 4 years of additional education and/or experience; US citizenship may be required for specific positions.

Qualifications

• Nice to have items include experience with submitting training requests, SMAX requests, ordering supplies, and workflow changes in MyHR.
• Position requires walking to multiple shops and assisting foremen and craftsmen with administrative tasks.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is preferred.

The Role

Performs normal office functions such as setting up and maintaining files; interviewing callers and making proper referrals; arranging meetings and conferences; and receiving, referring, or answering mail. Reviews drafts and finished documents for appropriate grammatical usage; answers questions relating to office operations and established policies and procedures. Gathers, compiles and reports on information relevant to supervisors assignment. May take and transcribe dictation.

Must Have

High School/GED and 4 years of additional education and/or experience

Nice to Have

• Experience with submitting training requests, SMAX request, ordering supplies, and workflow changes in MyHR is preferred.
• Position will require walking to and throughout multiple shops and assisting foreman, general foreman, and craftsmen with administrative assistance. (This would include vision testing, and assisting with computer needs).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is preferred.
