Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. in Newport News is seeking a supervisory leader for a large team with 15 direct and 9 indirect reports. The role requires guiding multiple job families and delivering reports to senior management.

Hours are 6:00am to 3:00pm. Requires a Bachelor's with extensive experience; may accept a Master’s degree with additional years. Relocation is not offered. Join a premier shipbuilding organization and contribute to critical defense programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive professional and/or supervisory experience; Master’s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience
• Equivalents may include: 2-year degree with 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above may substitute for degree requirements
• High School/GED with 4–8 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, or military experience

The Role

This benchmark code is intended for job classifications that have supervisory/management responsibilities over more than one unrelated and significant job family. (Examples: Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing, Fiscal, etc.).

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master?s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

• Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
• High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
• High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Nice to Have

Prompt, regular and predictable daily work attendance

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people who have sharply defined opinions

The ability to remain flexible, open to change, and calm when facing unexpected stress or difficult personalities
