Role Description

The Lymphedema Therapist is a full-time, hybrid role based in Chicago, IL, with some flexibility for work-from-home tasks such as documentation and care coordination. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing clients with lymphedema and related conditions, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing hands-on therapeutic interventions such as manual lymph drainage, compression therapy, and exercise-based rehabilitation. The therapist will collaborate with other clinicians to support overall recovery, educate clients and caregivers on self-management strategies, and monitor progress to adjust plans of care. Additional duties include maintaining accurate clinical documentation, participating in interdisciplinary case discussions, and contributing to a positive, patient-centered clinic environment.

Qualifications

• Clinical expertise in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy, with demonstrated skills in evaluation and treatment of lymphedema and related conditions.
• Knowledge of Exercise Physiology, including therapeutic exercise design, functional mobility training, and safe progression of activity for complex medical cases.
• Experience in Rehabilitation, including care planning, outcome measurement, and coordination of services across cardiovascular, orthopedic, wound care, and lymphedema populations.
• Understanding of Psychology principles relevant to patient motivation, coping, and adherence, with ability to provide empathetic, trauma-informed support.
• Licensed Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist in Illinois (or eligibility for licensure); certified lymphedema therapist (CLT) or willingness to obtain certification preferred.
• Strong communication and documentation skills, with proficiency in electronic medical record systems.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, with a commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous learning.
• Prior experience in outpatient or specialty clinic settings is beneficial; bilingual skills are a plus.
