Job summary

Ashland University invites applications for the Lyceum Café Lead, a part-time, 10-month role supporting the Lyceum Café. The position runs August through May with morning shifts, and duties include coffee production, customer service, and daily cash handling.

Position Details

• Must be available 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• This is a part time, 10-month position (August-May). Position works an average of 34 hrs. per week.
• Hands‑on position assisting the Lyceum Café Manager with daily production needs for our customers.
• Production of multiple specialty coffee drinks.
• Assist with ordering, stocking, monitoring food quality and sanitation of the facility.
• Maintain register and balancing of the cash drawer daily.
• Monitor student labor and hours.
• Assist manager with any scheduling needs.
• Part-time position includes prorated vacation leave, sick leave, and holiday pay only.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma.
• Previous barista experience.
• Food Safety certified or state certified in food protection/Level 2 or willing to certify.
• Efficient with math and Excel.
• Applicant must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Ashland University will not sponsor or take over sponsorship for an employment visa.

Preferred Qualifications

• Provide a high level of customer service.
• Ability to problem solve on the fly.

Physical Demands

• On your feet most of the day with the exception of the limited administrative duties.
