Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Texas is seeking an LVN Surgical Tech to support the operating room team. You will assist a Registered Nurse and manage surgical tools to ensure a safe, efficient surgical environment.

Responsibilities include communicating with surgeons, preparing instruments, maintaining aseptic technique, counting sponges and hardware, draping patients, and handling specimens.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year of experience.
• License Pract/Vocational Nurse (LVN) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Talk to surgeons to understand needs and prepare instruments before surgery.
• Prepare the operation site and ensure it is clean and prepped.
• Manage instrument tables to prevent damage and ensure accurate counts.
• Check the functionality of instruments, equipment and supplies during surgery.
• Assist with draping and positioning of the patient.
• Handle surgical specimens and deliver to circulating nurse as required.
• Apply surgical dressings after procedures.
• Assist with cleaning, decontamination and sterilization of tools and equipment.
• Maintain sterile environment and comply with regulatory norms.
