Job summary

The Registered Nurse (RN/LVN) at Innova Recovery Center coordinates nursing services and oversees the medication administration program across locations. Qualifications

  • Current, active RN or LVN license in Texas.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience preferred.
  • Behavioral health or substance use treatment experience preferred.
  • Experience coordinating medication administration programs preferred.
  • Experience with EMR systems preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between Innova Recovery Center locations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate nursing services across Innova Recovery Center locations.
  • Complete initial nursing assessments and ongoing nursing evaluations as indicated.
  • Monitor client health status and respond to changes in medical condition.
  • Obtain and evaluate vital signs, pain assessments, and other nursing assessments.
  • Coordinate psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management appointments.
  • Oversee the organization’s medication administration program.
  • Enter and maintain medication orders within the MAR.
  • Maintain nursing documentation within the EMR.
  • Supervise CNAs, DCTs, and other authorized medication staff.
  • Train, evaluate, and validate medication administration competency.

Job Shift: Morning Nurse

The Registered Nurse (RN/LVN) is responsible for coordinating nursing services and overseeing the medication administration program across Innova Recovery Center locations. This role provides nursing assessments, medication management, psychiatric and medical coordination, client education, quality assurance, and regulatory oversight while ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compliant medical care. The nurse collaborates with prescribing providers and multidisciplinary treatment teams to promote continuity of care throughout the client's treatment experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • ManageCoordinate nursing services across Innova Recovery Center locations.
  • Complete initial nursing assessments and ongoing nursing evaluations as clinically indicated.
  • Monitor client health status and respond to changes in medical condition.
  • Obtain and evaluate vital signs, pain assessments, and other nursing assessments.
  • Coordinate psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management appointments.
  • Communicate client concerns and clinical updates with prescribing providers.
  • Coordinate medical services, laboratory testing, and other healthcare appointments.
  • Oversee the organization's medication administration program.
  • Complete medication reconciliation and verify medication orders.
  • Enter and maintain medication orders within the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
  • Monitor medication inventory, refill needs, and medication accountability.
  • Receive, verify, and secure client medications.
  • Investigate medication discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee controlled substance accountability and medication disposal processes.
  • Provide medication education and health education to clients.
  • Facilitate nursing, medication management, wellness, and other health-related educational groups as assigned.
  • Supervise and support Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Direct Care Technicians (DCTs), and other authorized medication administration personnel.
  • Train, evaluate, and validate medication administration competency for authorized staff.
  • Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Coordinate client admissions, transfers, and discharges from a nursing perspective.
  • Ensure clients receive appropriate medication supplies and education upon discharge.
  • Monitor infection prevention practices and oversee the organization's infection control program.
  • Complete nursing audits, medication audits, and other quality assurance activities.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement (PIP) initiatives and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Participate in the nursing on-call rotation as assigned.
  • Collaborate with clinical, medical, and operations teams to support continuity of care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Competencies
  • Knowledge of nursing practice standards and medication administration principles.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health, psychiatric, and substance use treatment.
  • Understanding medication management, controlled substance accountability, and infection prevention.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to assess client medical needs and prioritize nursing interventions.
  • Ability to coordinate care with multidisciplinary treatment teams and outside providers.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and mentor medication administration personnel.
  • Ability to identify compliance concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality client care.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, clinical judgment, and confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the State of Texas.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Additional behavioral health or substance use certification preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience preferred.
  • Experience working in behavioral health, psychiatric, substance use treatment, residential, or outpatient settings preferred.
  • Experience coordinating medication administration programs preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
  • Experience providing staff education and competency validation preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between Innova Recovery Center locations as required.
