Job summary

Visions in Orange, CA is hiring a licensed nurse to monitor and administer medications, coordinate care, and supervise staff on shift. You will ensure residents take medications as ordered, monitor vital signs, and communicate with doctors and families.

Responsibilities

• Monitors client’s charts and updates client Medication Administration Records
• Ensures resident’s medications are taken as ordered by the doctor
• Maintains a daily medication count of client medications and facility PRNs
• Oversees all medical appointments with medical providers
• Facilitates residents’ daily activities in the facility, wake up, chore supervision, assists with meal service, and assists with laundry
• Observes and monitors residents’ behavior and intervenes based on schedule, individual resident’s treatment plan, and facility needs
• Documents observations/milieu interventions in client records
• Coordinates milieu treatment with clinical team (via resident record, staff communication, and counseling/staff meetings)
• Provides 1:1 supervision of at-risk residents (ATA risk, suicidal ideation, etc.) as needed
• Follows emergency procedures precisely (including phone tree protocol, etc.)
• Conducts UA drug screen collection when directed, following appropriate procedures.
• Performs TB testing for staff and clients, including reading the results and documenting using electronic medical records system
• Performs Covid tests at admission and as indicated and delivers to lab; tracks and communicates results
• Completes Assessment of Medical Necessity (within 24 hours of admission), and all forms of medical screening/assessment requirements as laid out by CCL, The Joint Commission, and Clinical/Program Director
• Communicates with doctors and pharmacy in order to maintain medical collaboration
• Monitors weekly weight and vitals for all residents
• Communicates with families regarding health care as well as medication changes and obtaining consent
• Teaches Medication Training course for program aides and re-trains staff as needed
• Available to guide, direct, and support staff on shift via telephone when needed
• Other duties assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications

• Preferred but not required experience treating a substance use population and 12-step model, and 1 year of sobriety if recovering; and provide current California LVN license (or higher or equivalent license), current CPR/First Aid certification, annual TB, Health screen upon hire
