Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited LVN program.
• Active Texas LVN license (or compact license for TX).
• 1+ year of Med-Surg or LTAC experience.
• Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• IV Therapy certification required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care, treatments, and diagnostic/preventive procedures for incarcerated patients.
• Interpret physician orders and administer prescribed medications.
• Assist physicians with sick calls and assess patients when physicians aren’t present.
• Check and record vital signs, apply dressings, provide emergency first aid.
• Report reactions to treatments/medications and changes in patient condition.
• Advise correctional staff on patient health needs as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records and check/order supplies.
• Consult with supervisor on complex cases.
