Job summary

Grammar INC seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for correctional facilities in Texas. The role provides nursing services, treatments and preventive procedures for inmate care, including med pass, wound care and ER support. Requires TX LVN license, BLS certification, and 1+ year Med/Surg or LTAC experience.

Rotating day/night shifts with a 4:3 schedule. Candidate must maintain accurate medical records and coordinate with supervisors on problem cases and inmate discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Must have a TX LVN license or permit.
• At least 1+ year Med/Surg or LTAC experience.
• Current AHA BLS certification and IV therapy certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing services, treatments and diagnostic procedures for inmate care.
• Administers prescribed medications and assists physician during sick calls.
• Performs wound care, vital sign checks and discharge planning.
• Maintains medical records and reports treatment reactions to supervisors.
• Supervises and/or instructs correctional staff on inmate health care as needed.

Day & Night both the positions are available.

Required skills and experience:

• Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current license/permit as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas
• 1+ year of Med/Surg or LTAC experience
• Current AHA BLS required - LVN’s must be IV Therapy Certified

What you need to know:

• Full Time 10 Day LVN positions and 8 Night LVN positions - Clearance documents will be sent to candidates during the Review stage - 4:3 rotating schedule 0645-1915 and 1845-0715

Job points:

• Ability to do a lot of different jobs – Clinic, in-patient, med pass, out-patient, wound care, cell side care, ER, critical care

Additional job details:

• Provides nursing services, treatments and diagnostic and preventive procedures appropriate for inmate care and safety - Interprets physicians’ orders.
• Administers prescribed medication - When physician is present, assists physician with sick call - Applies surgical dressings and bandages.
• Provides emergency first aid care - Checks and records vital signs - Instructs inmates concerning discharge planning - Observes signs and symptoms during sick call when physician is not present.
• Reports reactions to treatments and medications as well as changes in the inmates’ emotional or physical condition.
• May instruct and supervise correctional staff concerning inmate health care and needs
• Consults with supervisor on problem cases - Checks and orders supplies - Maintains accurate medical records - Provides health care education inmates
