Job summary

Akua Mind Body in Costa Mesa, CA seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for a full-time, hourly, non-exempt role in our mental health and detox program. Shift is Thursday–Monday, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM, reporting to the Clinical Director to deliver safe medication administration and patient care.

CA LVN/LPN license and CPR/First Aid are required, along with a valid CA driver’s license, current health screen, and TB clearance. The LVN will document in EMR and coordinate medical and lab appointments.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid LVN/LPN license to practice in California.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification is required.
• Valid California driver's license is required.
• Current health screen is required.
• TB clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• The LVN works under the supervision of the Clinical Director.
• Maintains professional standards and follows treatment policies and regulations.
• Manages all medications as ordered by the Medical Director and documents dispensing.
• Safeguards medication stock and related records per regulatory bodies.
• Trains clinical staff on medications and medication destruction.
• Performs detox assessments including CIWA, COWS and vitals.
• Documents medical notes and orders in the EMR.
• Coordinates urine collection and processing with clinical staff.
• Coordinates internal and external medical and lab appointments.

Job Description:

AKUA is seeking a LVN that is a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of CA. New Graduates welcome to apply. Must have passed NCLEX. Mental Health, Detox/residential drug and alcohol treatment experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• The LVN works under the supervision of the Clinical Director
• Maintains professional standards and follows the treatment policies of the organization, The Joint Commission and Federal/State Laws and Regulations.
• The LVN is responsible for all medication as ordered by the Medical Director, Program Physician, and to maintain accurate accounting of all medication received (from supplier) and observed (to the patient).
• He / She is responsible for the safekeeping of all medication stock and the records required by the DEA, FDA, JCAHO and ADP.
• The LVN is responsible for training all clinical staff about medications, observation of medications, and medication destruction.
• The LVN is responsible for all detox assessments including CIWA, COWS, Vitals, etc.
• The LVN is responsible for all medical documentation in the EMR including all physician notes and medication orders.
• The LVN may be responsible for urine collection and processing in conjunction with the clinical technicians, reading test results as ordered by Program Physicians and the completion of all forms involved in these procedures.
• The LVN is also responsible for coordinating all internal and external medical and lab appointments.
