Job summary

Fairmont New Orleans is seeking a professional Public Area Attendant to maintain lobbies, corridors, restrooms, and guest-facing surfaces to the highest standards. You will help sustain a pristine environment essential to our luxury guest experience.

This role requires attention to detail, strong guest service, and the ability to work independently across mornings/evenings. Prior hotel housekeeping experience is preferred in a fast-paced, upscale setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in Housekeeping or similar role preferred.
• Experience in a luxury hotel or upscale hospitality environment preferred.
• Overnight or evening experience is an asset.
• Experience operating cleaning equipment preferred.
• Attention to detail and cleanliness required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Flexible schedule including mornings/evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, engaging service to guests and colleagues.
• Clean and maintain assigned public areas (lobbies, corridors, elevators, entrances, meeting spaces).
• Clean and maintain public restrooms to high standards.
• Empty garbage and recycling from public areas and dispose of waste.
• Clean mirrors, interior windows, glass surfaces, doors, and guest-facing surfaces.
• Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, and decorative elements.
• Maintain brass, metal, and other finishes to keep them polished.
• Vacuum carpets and rugs; perform spot cleaning as needed.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain hard-surface flooring per standards.
• Monitor high-traffic areas for cleanliness and guest needs.
• Move and return furniture and equipment as required.
• Assist with setup/breakdown of spaces and events.
• Report maintenance issues promptly to Housekeeping leadership.
• Communicate with Engineering/Maintenance about issues identified.
• Respond to guest questions in a warm, courteous, professional manner.
• Maintain awareness of hotel amenities and local attractions to assist guests.
• Follow all SOPs, safety procedures, and policy.
• Maintain professional appearance and guest privacy.
• Adapt to high-occupancy periods, special events, and other demands.
