Job summary

Neiman Marcus is seeking a skilled Tailor to conduct alterations, resizing and restyling of all merchandise in Neiman Marcus stores. You will assist fitters with fit, alterability, and structural quality of apparel.

Responsibilities include altering garments to high standards, operating sewing equipment, and self-inspecting work to ensure quality. Strong reading and arithmetic skills are required for accurate measurements and instruction interpretation.

Qualifications

• Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment.
• Ability to read English and understand instruction by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.

Responsibilities

• Alter constructed garments to meet the standard of quality set by Neiman Marcus equal or better than original construction
• Alter seams vented or unvented, take in shoulder blades, reduce chest, narrow shoulders
• Rotate sleeves, shorten sleeves
• Shorten back, shorten collar, and square shoulders
• Shorten coat, re-line coat, or remake inside or outside pockets
• Operate and maintain all sewing equipment
• Self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
• Complete alterations assigned tasks, as assigned by Supervisor/Lead
• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form
• Complete tasks assigned by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead
