Job summary

Rutgers University is seeking a Laboratory/Tech Assistant in the Department of Animal Sciences within the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, on the George H. Cook Campus in New Brunswick, NJ.

This temporary, part-time on-site position supports a project examining retinoids in cellular communication. Key duties include maintaining cultures, performing cell culture and analyses, and assisting with lab organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology or related scientific/technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and/or laboratory experience.
• Knowledge of safety and lab procedures to ensure safe operation.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills, and proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and utilizes cultures of mouse and human lung cells, lung tissue and cell analyses.
• Executes protocols for culturing primary lung cells and cell lines as monocultures and organoids.
• Handles molecular characterization of cell interactions using in vitro cultures.
• Orders supplies, organizes lab records, and maintains equipment in consultation with PI and department administration.
