Job summary

Kids for the Future in Alpena, MI is seeking an Instructional Assistant to supervise students during lunchtime and help maintain a safe, orderly cafeteria environment. You will monitor behavior, assist with meal service, and support staff in daily operations.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with preferred experience in child nutrition and state training in sanitation, safety and food service basics. You will handle cash transactions and train substitutes as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising students in a cafeteria or similar setting.
  • Ability to manage cash transactions and balance daily receipts.
  • Familiarity with school food service safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with daily cleaning of the cafeteria to ensure sanitary conditions are met.
  • Assists with other IA assignments when necessary (LRE, Overload).
  • Operates cash register for the lunch line and counts money; makes change.
  • Trains substitute aides at the assigned location.
  • Reviews email communication regularly and responds as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance; follows district policies.
