Job summary

Ypsilanti Community Schools is seeking a Lunchroom Supervisor for Ypsilanti Middle School to ensure a safe, clean, and orderly lunch period for all students. You will supervise students from arrival in line to departure from the lunch room, teach seating, and reinforce proper conduct.

This role requires strong interpersonal communication, knowledge of school safety procedures, and the ability to work with staff to meet student needs in a busy lunchroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students from their arrival in the lunch line to their departure from the lunch room.
  • Teach students where to be in line and where to sit in the lunchroom.
  • Know school safety procedures and emergency information.
  • Maintain positive communication with students and meet their needs.
  • Wash tables, wipe up spills and teach good manners at lunch.
  • Maintain a pleasant environment in the lunchroom.
  • Be receptive to the special needs of students' diets.
  • Assist students in any way they may need while in the lunchroom.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the building administrator and/or Food Service Director.

LUNCHROOM SUPERVISOR

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator and/or Food Service Director

LOCATION: Ypsilanti Middle School

SALARY: $12.48/hr

SUMMARY

Responsible for providing a safe, clean and orderly lunch period for all students.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent
  2. Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with building administrators, other kitchen staff, and school personnel.
  • Supervise students from their arrival in the lunch line to their departure from the lunch room.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes to walk and sit. Occasionally, the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs., such as boxes and carts.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with the public and other staff. The employee is directly responsible for students' safety, well-being, and work output.
