Summary:

This position monitors the playground, lunchroom, equipment and facilities for the purpose of providing a safe environment for students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates activities among students for the purpose of providing direction in playground interactions and age-appropriate activities;
  • Oversees students on playground and in lunchroom for the purpose of resolving conflict and providing for the safety and welfare of students;
  • Participates in meetings and conferences with staff, parents and students for the purpose of solving problems;
  • Reports observations and incidents relating to students' behavior for the purpose of communicating information to teachers, parents and administration;
  • Responds to emergency or other health-related situations for the purpose of meeting student health care needs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to monitor student behavior;
  • Ability to deal with elementary or secondary school students in a caring and confidentmanner;
  • Ability to maintain accurate records;
  • Ability to organize and set priorities;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff;
  • Effective oral communication skills.
