Job summary

The Northport-East Northport UFSD is seeking a Lunch Monitor to supervise students during lunch and recess, promoting a safe and respectful environment.

The role supports transitions, maintains cleanliness, and upholds district policies while communicating effectively with students, staff, and administrators. Working conditions are primarily in cafeteria and outdoor areas during the school calendar.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with school-aged children preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
• Demonstrated ability to manage groups of children with fairness, patience, and consistency.
• Knowledge of basic safety and first aid procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Lunch Monitor is responsible for providing supervision and support to students during lunch and recess periods to ensure a safe, orderly, and respectful environment. This position contributes to the overall safety and well-being of students by monitoring behavior, assisting with transitions, and maintaining cleanliness in designated areas. The Lunch Monitor upholds district policies and procedures while promoting positive student interactions.

For district schools, as follows:

• Elementary Schools:5 days per week, 3 hours daily (10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.)
• Middle schools:5 days per week, 3 hours 45 minutes per day (10:15 a.m. to 2:0 p.m.)
• High School: 5 days per week, 3 hours daily (10:18 a.m to 1:18 p.m)
