Job summary

Center for Developmental Disabilities, Inc. is seeking a part-time team member to support students in a school-based setting. Schedule is Monday–Friday 10am–2pm with per diem hours available. The organization provides a comprehensive benefits package and a $1,000 sign-on bonus.

You will assist with lunches, support feeding protocols, monitor mealtime safety, help with ADLs, and collaborate with the classroom team in a respectful, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Valid NYS Driver's License preferred
• Experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities
• Ability to sit, walk, drive and stand for prolonged periods

Responsibilities

• Assists with the supervision and preparation of the student lunches
• Supports students with individualized feeding protocols and encourages independence during meals
• Monitors mealtime safety to prevent choking
• Assists students with activities of daily living including hygiene and toileting
• Supports the classroom teacher in supervising students during non-instructional activities
• Interacts with students in a supportive and nurturing manner
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
• Collaborates with the classroom team and follows agency policies

Schedule

Part-Time: Monday Friday 10am-2pm (per diem hours also available)

Some Job Responsibilities

• Assists with the supervision and preparation of the student lunches.
• Supports students in the following individualized feeding protocols and encourages independence during meals.
• Monitors students closely to prevent choking and to ensure mealtime safety.
• Assists students with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene and toileting, using universal precautions.
• Supports the classroom teacher in supervising students during non-instructional activities.
• Interacts with students in a consistent, supportive, and nurturing manner.
• Helps maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment, including care of materials and equipment.
• Collaborates effectively and professionally as part of the classroom team.
• Follows all agency policies, procedures, and departmental guidelines.

Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED;
• Valid NYS Drivers License preferred;
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred;
• Must be able to perform physical activities such as (but not limited to); twisting, bending, crouching, pulling, pushing;
• Must be able to sit, walk, drive, and stand for prolonged periods of time;
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
