Job summary

Based at Space Coast, FL with shifts A/B/C, you will work on subassemblies and avionics, apply precision tools, and pursue continuous improvement while upholding

Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration or related field.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Hands-on assembly/integration of structural and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient with torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers; basic electrical test with DMMs.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs and working at heights or confined spaces.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible status.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and integrate subcomponents and final assemblies per specs.
  • Configure production work areas with tooling/equipment for efficiency.
  • Operate precision tools to maintain safety and quality.
  • Identify and implement safety/efficiency improvements.

  • Support transition from development to production; perform preventative maintenance.

Job description

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As an Assembly & Integration Technician at Blue Origin, you will provide hands-on technical support to engineering, production, and manufacturing teams by performing activities such as assembly, integration, testing, modification, and checkout of aerospace systems and hardware. Working from engineering drawings, schematics, and detailed work instructions, you will build, integrate, and troubleshoot prototype and production mechanical systems, structural systems, and avionics systems. You will perform operational tests, fault isolation, and assist in remedying malfunctions, ensuring all systems meet rigorous quality and safety standards. This role requires proficiency using a wide range of manufacturing and diagnostic tools, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to supporting Blue Origin's mission of safe and reliable spaceflight.

  • Shifts: A - Mon-Fri (6:00 AM-2:30 PM) / B - Mon-Fri (2:00 PM-10:30 PM) / C - Fri-Sun (6:00 AM-6:30 PM)

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and integrate subcomponents and final assemblies of all major structural, mechanical, and avionics systems according to engineering specifications.
  • Configure production work areas with necessary tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and minimize delays during high-rate manufacturing transitions.
  • Operate precision calibrated tools (e.g., torque wrenches, micrometers) to maintain high safety and quality standards.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives for safety, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Perform operational tests, troubleshooting, and fault isolation to ensure the integrity and reliability of assembled systems.
  • Support the transition from development to production, performing preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles to promote safety and operational efficiency.
Team Focus & Domain Expertise

The Technician - Assembly & Integration at Blue Origin plays a pivotal role in assembling, integrating, and verifying aerospace components and systems including primary structure, mechanical assemblies, and avionics for the Lunar Human Landing System Solar Array products. You will collaborate on transforming how our Lunar Solar Arrays are made and integrated, directly impacting the reliability and performance of Lunar Vehicle Systems. Success requires versatility across domains, keen attention to detail, and dedication to safe, repeatable spaceflight.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience Levels with aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another related field. (0-3 years Level I Technician, 3+ Level II Technician, 5+ Level III Technician, 8+ Sr Level Technician)
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Hands-on experience with assembly and integration of structural and mechanical systems.
    • Mechanical Skills (torquing, Composi-Loks, etc.)
    • Structures (jig positioning, drilling, liquid shim, etc.)
  • Basic electrical test (use of DMMs, basic knowledge of voltage/current/resistance)
  • Avionics fabrication and assembly including soldering, crimping, and wire harnessing
  • Experience with bonding adhesives and sealants (polymeric mix/application)
  • Proficient with precision calibration tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers).
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs and working at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.
  • Experience with bonding adhesives and sealants (polymeric mix/application)
  • Basic proficiency in computer usage, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in related field.
  • Direct experience with wing structure assembly/integration, avionics integration, and aerospace launch vehicle or spacecraft assembly.
  • Knowledge of precision assembly processes, especially for large aerospace components.
  • Small-scale Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) experience
  • Experience with composites production a plus
  • Strong technical and leadership skills with attention to detail, especially when leading teams on complex integration tasks.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional teams.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and curiosity for optimizing processes.
  • Experience with the operation of industrial power vehicles (e.g., forklift, scissor lift, boom lift).
  • Willingness to work overtime.
