Job summary

Bell Lumber & Pole Co. in Lewiston, ID is hiring a Lumber Yard Laborer to measure, cut, and trim wooden poles to length, and to drill to customer specifications. You will work outdoors in all weather, following safety rules and Bell standards.

The role is full-time with a schedule of Monday–Friday 7am–3:30pm, with possible overtime and weekend shifts. Starting pay is $21+ per hour, based on experience. Having strong teamwork, physical stamina and the ability to handle heavy equipment is

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience: Previous experience working outdoors, using a tape measure, and working with a chainsaw is required.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery and experience with log handling is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, trim, and drill wooden poles using a tape measure, hand tools and power tools.
  • Assist other employees with moving wood across the yard, into storage location(s), and/or in and out of trucks and rail cars as needed.
  • Understand written documents for proper handling of customer products.
  • Understand basic safe use of shop tools and complete basic machine maintenance.
  • Maintain effective communication with co-workers concerning operational needs.
  • Startup and shutdown of equipment, including appropriate safety protocols.
  • Perform annual and other preventative or scheduled maintenance on equipment as needed.
  • Understand and adhere to OSHA safety rules and work in compliance with the Bell safety standards, policies, and procedures.

Lumber Yard Laborer

Full-time Regular Lewiston, ID, US

Salary Range: $21.00 To $21.00 Hourly

The purpose of the LumberYard Laborer is to measure, cut, and trim wooden poles to length as well as drill to customer specifications as needed in a safe and efficient manner. Position will work outdoors in all types of weather.

Schedule

Monday - Friday from 7am – 3:30pm, possible overtime/weekends as needed.

Starting Pay

$21+ per hour, based on experience.

Job Duties

Work Environment/Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms and is occasionally required to walk, stand, hear, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics are best defined as exposure to elements such as heat, cold, precipitation or toxic fumes. Employee will have steady exposure to noise as heard in a piece of mobile heavy equipment; at times noise levels will exceed safe working levels. This job may require overtime.
