Job summary

Biewer Lumber in Lansing, MI is seeking an Equipment Operator I to run a powered industrial truck for loading and unloading lumber, navigating wide and complex loads through storage areas and rail cars.

The role requires basic reading and writing, safety awareness, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. OSHA or forklift certification is preferred, with potential overtime during peak production.

Qualifications

• Ability to read safety rules and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to write routine reports and follow production specifications.
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• OSHA safety or forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift to load and unload lumber materials safely.
• Stack units of dimensional lumber and plywood in storage bays.
• Move stock to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Identify product damages and monitor material quality.
• Follow safety procedures and report accidents or unsafe conditions.
• Work in other departments such as splitting, tagging, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
