Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc. is seeking a Lumber Grader in Selma, AL. You will grade and sort softwood SPF and SYP following TP/SPIB standards, label parts, and prepare bundles for shipment.

You will also track inventory, stack and secure lumber, and assist with material movement while upholding safety rules and company policies. A HS diploma is preferred; grading certification is a plus; 18+ years old required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED is preferred but not required.
• Certification in lumber grading preferred, however non-certified graders will be considered if training is in progress.
• No minimum experience is required, but manufacturing or lumber experience is preferred.
• 3-5 years of related experience in lumber grading is preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic math preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Grades and sorts softwood SPF and SYP per third party TP/SPIB inspection requirements.
• Moves and secures lumber products and other materials per instructions.
• Stacks finished products per predetermined bundle sizes and customer requirements.
• Labels material by type, size, and count; attach requirement-specific tags.
• Uses staple gun and adjusts/repairs equipment as needed.
• Binds, bundles, straps, and secures material with corner protectors and loading sticks.
• Maintains accurate inventory of tags and reports discrepancies to supervisor.
• Records production on production sheets and keeps area clean and organized.
• Assist other areas with moving material and loading/unloading carts.
• Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings.
