Job summary

SmartLam NA Dothan LLC in Dothan, AL is hiring a Lumber Grader to sort and grade incoming lumber to match production needs. You will work with a team to maintain lumber flow and coordinate with Lead Grader and operators to ensure availability for production.

The role requires standing for an entire shift, lifting up to 50 pounds, and adherence to SOPs and quality standards. Forklift experience is a plus, and a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Proficient with basic math and measurement tools.
• Ability to accurately identify lumber species and grades.
• Capable of lifting and standing for full shifts (up to 50 lbs).
• Communicates well and stays productive under deadlines.
• Experience as lumber grader and forklift exposure preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Follow SOPs and guidelines for grading lumber per product standards.
• Measure moisture content with meters or systems.
• Identify the correct grade/bin based on criteria.
• Record grading results for inventory management.
• Enter data into Zoho and complete paperwork.
• Collaborate with teammates to process large lumber volumes safely.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as directed by Plant Manager.
• Handle wet lumber, label, and restack as needed.
• Suggest process improvements to increase throughput.
• Maintain safe, clean, and ergonomic work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
