NHW is seeking a Lumber Grader to inspect, grade, and process lumber at our Hamden, OH facility. The role focuses on identifying defects, ensuring dimensional accuracy, and leading throughput on the production line.

Qualified candidates will have lumber grading experience, strong reliability, and excellent communication. The position operates on first shift, with competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience grading lumber to NHLA standards or similar.
• Strong flexibility to adapt to production needs.
• Excellent attendance and reliability are essential.
• Excellent communication skills for team coordination.

Responsibilities

• Inspect lumber on conveyors or in racks for defects (knots, stains, decay, splits, edges, pitch pockets, wormholes).
• Grade lumber to ensure specified dimensions.
• Lead throughput for the assigned production line.
• Control and operate computer system for the line.
• Scales board footage and records results.
• Pull graded lumber into unit form; follow NHLA guidelines; hand-stack lumber as needed.
