Job description

A General Service Technician exemplifies professional integrity, strong teamwork skills, basic knowledge of the automotive industry, and automotive diagnostic and repair skills. They utilize the latest technology, tools, and equipment, and are eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment. The role involves delivering quality work, exceptional customer service, and exceeding business goals while supporting daily operations.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  1. Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid flushes, and filter replacements to ensure vehicle reliability and longevity.
  2. Assist with and conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify mechanical, electrical, maintenance, or safety issues.
  3. Complete repairs and maintenance tasks efficiently and accurately.
  4. Utilize diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and computerized systems to diagnose and troubleshoot automotive problems.
  5. Ensure all repair and maintenance work meets manufacturer specifications and industry standards for quality and safety.
  6. Perform quality control checks and test-drive vehicles to verify repairs and diagnose remaining issues.
  7. Immediately report accidents or service issues requiring additional work or safety concerns to the Store or Service Manager.
  8. Complete test drives following company policies and safety practices.
  9. Maintain thorough, accurate inspection records and communicate service recommendations clearly to sales and management staff.
  10. Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair recommendations, estimates, and questions.
  11. Provide excellent customer service by delivering timely, quality automotive services with professionalism and courtesy.
  12. Collaborate with senior technicians, management, and team members to coordinate workflow and ensure efficient service delivery.
  13. Promote workplace safety and adhere to OSHA and company safety policies to minimize hazards and injuries.
  14. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment per company and OSHA standards.
  15. Stay current on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes in automotive repair and safety.
  16. Support the Store Manager in fostering a positive, inclusive, and cohesive team culture to exceed business goals and deliver exceptional customer service.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, and Experience

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least one year of related experience preferred.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check.

Physical Demands

Position Details

This full-time, onsite role requires at least 32 hours weekly, with varied hours including weekends, depending on location and business needs. Up to 25% travel may be required, with minimal overnight stays.
