Job summary

EV.Careers is seeking a full-time LTL Dispatcher for a busy Chicago-area logistics operation. You will run the evening dispatch desk, coordinating drivers and shipments to keep freight on schedule from pickup through final delivery.

This fast, high-volume role rewards ownership of the board, accuracy in data entry, and proactive communication with drivers, warehouses, customers, carriers, and airlines. W2, direct-hire with overtime available and a stable team.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in LTL, local, regional or long-haul dispatch.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Excellent organization, multitasking and problem-solving with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and dispatch drivers based on customer demand and daily operational needs.
• Track and trace shipments from pickup through final delivery and update milestones in systems.
• Communicate with drivers, warehouse personnel, customers, carriers, and airlines by phone and email.
• Coordinate pickup/delivery appointments and monitor driver locations and hours.
• Complete documentation for freight operations with accurate data entry and dispatch records.
• Resolve service issues and inform delays or exceptions promptly to keep freight on time.

Job description

EV.Careers is currently seeking a full-time, direct-hire LTL Dispatcher for one of our partners, a busy Chicago-area logistics and freight-handling operation that keeps air and ground freight moving around the clock. In this position, you will run the evening dispatch desk, coordinating drivers and shipments so freight stays on schedule from pickup through final delivery. It is a fast, high-volume role for someone who likes owning the board and keeping every load accounted for.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and dispatch drivers based on customer demand and daily operational needs.
• Track and trace shipments from pickup through final delivery, and keep milestone and status updates current in company systems.
• Communicate constantly with drivers, warehouse personnel, customers, carriers, and airlines by phone and email.
• Coordinate pickup and delivery appointments and monitor driver locations, trip status, and available hours.
• Complete and process the documentation required for freight and airline operations, with accurate data entry and dispatch records.
• Resolve service issues and communicate delays or exceptions quickly to keep freight on time.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience in LTL, local, regional, or long-haul dispatch.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Excellent organization, multitasking, and problem-solving, with strong attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and as part of a small team, and available for a 2nd-shift schedule that includes at least one weekend day.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in air freight, freight forwarding, or cargo handling.
• Experience coordinating truck moves against airline or terminal schedules.
• Comfort learning and working in a proprietary, in-house dispatch platform.
