Qualifications

• Current NJ licensure as RN required.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification required.
• AHA Basic Life Support Instructor certification required.
• Certification in specialty preferred.
• Must have at least 1 year of long term care experience within the past 5 years.
• Certification as a CNA instructor is preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of teaching adult learners.

Responsibilities

• Assures all orientation programs for newly appointed nursing staff meet regulatory requirements and are current with hospital policies.
• Coordinates with Education Supervisor and Nursing Administration for staff transfers and educational plans.
• Participates in annual learning needs assessments and plans in-services and programs.
• Teaches classes using adult learning principles and various methods including e-learning with documentation.
• Teaches continuing nursing education programs and provides CE credits for staff.
• Writes and develops curriculum meeting ANCC standards and reviews programs periodically.
• Writes policies and procedures for the department or with clinical departments.
• Supervises direct nursing care when necessary to evaluate orientees and ensure patient safety.
