Job summary

GE HealthCare's LSS team is offering a Software Engineering Co-op to gain hands-on experience developing software for life‑support medical devices. You will work on embedded software, test tools, and product development initiatives throughout the software lifecycle.

You will contribute to real‑time and embedded software in C++, participate in testing and debugging, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams in a regulated medical device environment. Madison relocation is required for the co‑op.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Demonstrated programming experience in one or more languages such as C++, Python, or C#.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Proven leadership experience through academic, extracurricular, or professional activities.
  • Available to work for a minimum of 28 weeks.
  • Willingness to relocate to Madison, WI for the duration of the co‑op.

You will work alongside experienced engineers on embedded software, software test tools, and product development initiatives while gaining exposure to the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and documentation.

Job Description

As a LSS Software Engineering Co-op, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of software used in life‑support medical devices and the test tools used to develop and validate those products. Working with experienced engineers, managers, and mentors, you will participate in meaningful projects that provide real‑world software development experience in a regulated medical device environment.
