Job summary

USS Lexington Museum is seeking a dedicated staff member to help maintain the historic ship and its facilities in Corpus Christi, TX. The role includes managing admissions, tour routes, restrooms, meeting rooms, hangar bays, and flight deck areas, while ensuring safety and order for visitors.

The position requires following a weekly operations schedule, participating in monthly safety briefings, and assisting during special events with setup and cleanup.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire.
• Reliable transportation to the worksite.
• Successful background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities:

• Priorities are to include, maintaining the approach way, admissions, tour routes, bathrooms, meeting rooms, berthing compartments, office areas, Hanger Bays, and flight deck.
• Follow a weekly schedule for normal work operations.
• Attend monthly safety meetings on proper equipment and chemical use.
• Assist Special Events with event settings and clean-up duties.
• Set up caution signs for visitors when needed.
• Must be competent to direct visitors.
• Must be capable of understanding and implementing the Lexington’s Safety Program.
• Must be capable of understanding and implementing the Lexington’s Heavy Weather Plan.
• Perform any other job duties as delegated by the LSS Supervisor or Director of Operations.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand; use continuous hand, arm and finger manipulation. Environment requires climbing steep stairwells, so comfortable clothing and shoes with non-skid soles are recommended. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25-50 pounds. The vision requirements include: clear concise, close/distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the environment is moderate. Exposure to chemical agents, painting supplies and fumes.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate
• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire
• Reliable means of transportation to and from the worksite
• Successful completion of a criminal background investigation
• Successful completion of a drug screening test
• Successful completion of a physical examination administered by a licensed medical physician, verifying the applicant’s ability to perform essential job functions
